Viking used it's 25 years of experience in river cruising to create a unique product in the world of ocean cruising. Like their river cruises, Viking ocean cruises places all the focus on the destinations you visit. Most onboard activities are used to further enhance the experiences and deepen the knowledge and understanding of the places you visit. Whether it be the cuisine, the entertainment, the presentations or the music, you will be immersed in the culture and the history of the region. Off the ship the immersion continues with Viking's specially curated excursions. These excursions are designed to give you insight into the daily life and work life of the people you will meet and to provide special access to locations normally inaccessible to the general public. With 9 beautifully appointed identical small ships there is no place Viking can't take you in comfort.

The Viking Way of Exploration

Every Viking journey begins with a carefully-designed itinerary that combines a varied number of
ports into a cohesive travel experience. In each port, we select sights and experiences that capture
the essence of the destination. From there, we create informative talks to introduce the destinations
to our guests before they arrive; we bring experts on board to present lectures and workshops that
provide critical background and context, as well as performers from the destinations; and we help our
guests prepare and anticipate their journey through recommended reading lists, informative videos,
suggestions for films to watch and other content.

The Viking Way® of exploration offers behind-the-scenes insights and opportunities that distinguish
us from other travel companies. While we always feature the expected and iconic—such as visits to
renowned museums and notable landmarks—we also work hard to offer our guests Local Life, Working
World and optional Privileged Access® experiences, opening doors to places otherwise difficult to visit

The Viking Fleet

Bringing our successful river experience to the world’s oceans we designed our ships for only 930 guests, with plentiful outdoor dining, spacious public areas and all veranda staterooms. Our smaller vessels can also dock where megaliners cannot, and our lower guest counts create less congestion in the cities we visit. From prime central berths in cities like Bergen, London and Monte Carlo, enriching cultural discovery starts just a short walk away from the ship.

Viking Expeditions

Introducing Viking Expeditions: thoughtfully curated, refreshing innovative, once-in-a-lifetime experiences in the wilds of Antarctica and the Great Lakes, nestled in the heart of North America. With extensive programs both on board and on shore, Viking guests enjoy an unprecedented immersion in these majestic regions. Our expedition ships are optimally sized for expeditions: small enough to navigate remote areas, yet large enough to provide speed, superior handling, and stability in the roughest seas. Every detail is designed to appeal to the thinking traveler. Learn about the destinations with enriching lectures on geology, glaciology, marine biology, ornithology and more; gain an overview of activities to come during daily briefings; join our Viking Resident Scientists in the Laboratory or learn more at your leisure in our specially curated library. Our shore landings invite guests to engage on a deeper level by assisting in fieldwork or interacting in experiential activities. They might track birds to help identify migratory patterns, walk within view of captivating wildlife, or take a camera or field microscope ashore alongside the expedition leader to capture landscapes untouched by human hands.
